How do I pay my fees

Fees are payable monthly in advance via bank transfer, card, Tax-Free Childcare and various other methods. Full details will be provided upon registration.

We are going on holiday

Yes, if you let us know 4 weeks in advance, we can discount your invoice by 50%.

Do I need to pay a deposit to secure a place?

No. At Keystone Nurseries, we do not charge a bookingdeposit or any consumable fees, making it easier for families to accesshigh-quality childcare.

Can I increase or decrease my child's sessions after they start?

Yes. We understand that family circumstances canchange. Please speak to a member of our team, and we will do our best toaccommodate your requested changes, subject to availability.

Can funded hours be combined with additional paid sessions?

Absolutely. Funded hours can be combined withadditional paid sessions. Our core funded day runs between 9:00am and 5:00pm,with extended hours available at some of our settings. Please contact yourchosen nursery for specific opening times.

Can I supply food

Yes, in certain circumstances, such as allergies or dietary requirements, or where the nursery does not provide meals. Please speak with the nursery team to ensure safety and compliance.

Will child play outside?

Yes. Outdoor play is an important part of our curriculum, supporting children's physical development and wellbeing. We enjoy outdoor learning in all weather conditions where it is safe to do so.

What if I need someone else to collect my child?

You will need to inform the nursery in advance, provide details of the authorised person and ensure you have set a password on Famly. Identification will also be required upon collection.

What to wear

All children should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing suitable for active play. We recommend that all belongings are clearly labelled.

What does a typical day at nursery look like?

Every day is filled with opportunities to play, exploreand learn. Children enjoy a balance of child-led play, adult-guidedexperiences, outdoor learning, group activities, stories, songs, mealtimes andquiet periods. Daily routines vary slightly between age groups and individualnursery settings to meet the needs of the children.

Do children have opportunities for naps and quiet time?

Yes. We work closely with families to follow eachchild's home sleep routine wherever possible, helping to provide consistencyand comfort.

What happens if my child becomes upset during the day?

Our caring practitioners will comfort and reassure yourchild using nurturing, responsive approaches. If your child remains distressedor we feel you need to be informed, we will contact you to discuss how best tosupport them.

How do you celebrate birthdays and special occasions?

We love celebrating special occasions. Children canenjoy singing with their friends and, if families wish to provide a birthdaycake, we will celebrate together before cutting and wrapping slices forchildren to take home, helping us to manage allergies safely.

How do you prepare children for starting school?

At Keystone Nurseries, we believe school readiness isabout far more than learning letters and numbers. We focus on developingchildren's confidence, independence, resilience, communication skills andemotional wellbeing alongside the knowledge and skills outlined in the EarlyYears Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring children are well prepared for theirnext stage of learning.

How do you support children's communication and language development?

Communication and language are embedded throughout ourcurriculum. Children enjoy stories, songs, conversations, role play andmeaningful interactions every day. Our practitioners are also trained in arange of speech and language support strategies to help every child developstrong communication skills.

How do you identify and support children who may need additional help with their learning?

Our practitioners regularly observe children's learningand development using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) alongsideongoing observations and assessments across the seven areas of learning. If weidentify that a child may benefit from additional support, we work closely withfamilies, our SENDCo and other professionals to ensure children receive earlyintervention tailored to their needs.

How often is my child's progress reviewed?

Your child's progress is monitored continuously throughobservations and assessments. Formal reviews are shared with families at keypoints, including the Two-Year Progress Check where applicable, alongsideregular discussions with your child's Key Person.

How can parents support learning at home?

We believe parents are children's first educators. Weregularly share ideas, activities and updates through our parent communicationsystems and encourage families to build on their child's interests at homethrough play, reading, conversations and everyday experiences.

How will I know how my child is getting on?

We use the Famly app to share regular updates, observations and assessments of your child's progress, helping you stay involved and informed.

What is a learning journey?

A learning journey is a record of your child's development, including assessments, achievements and the next steps in their learning and development.

What is a key person?

Your child's key person is a dedicated member of staff who supports their development and wellbeing and acts as your main point of contact within the nursery.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing FAQs

How do you keep children safe at nursery?

Keeping children safe is our highest priority. Allstaff receive safeguarding training and follow robust policies and procedures.We complete regular risk assessments, maintain appropriate staff-to-childratios and ensure children are supervised at all times.

What safeguarding procedures do you have in place?

All Keystone Nurseries have a Designated SafeguardingLead and Deputy Safeguarding Leads. Our safeguarding policies follow nationalguidance and local safeguarding procedures, ensuring concerns are acted uponquickly and appropriately to protect every child.

What happens if my child becomes ill while at nursery?

If your child becomes unwell, we will make them ascomfortable as possible and contact you immediately. If emergency medicaltreatment is required, we will follow our emergency procedures and keep youinformed throughout.

How do you manage dietary requirements and food allergies?

We work closely with families to understand everychild's dietary requirements, allergies and medical needs. Individual careplans are followed where necessary, and staff receive appropriate training toensure children remain safe during mealtimes.

How do you support children's emotional wellbeing?

Children thrive when they feel safe, secure and valued.Our nurturing approach focuses on building positive relationships, supportingemotional regulation and helping children understand and express theirfeelings. Every child has a Key Person who develops a strong, trustingrelationship with them and their family.

Are your premises secure?

Yes. All of our nurseries have secure entry systems,visitor signing-in procedures and robust collection arrangements. Children'ssafety is carefully monitored throughout the day, both indoors and outdoors.

My child was sick during the night but seems fine this morning.

We adhere to strict illness policies to help protect the health and wellbeing of all children and staff. Children should remain at home until they have been free from sickness for 48 hours.

Do you have qualified first aiders?

Yes. All staff are trained in paediatric first aid and regularly update their training.

My child has allergies. Will they be safe at nursery?

Absolutely. We work closely with parents and carers to create individual care plans and ensure all staff are trained to manage allergies safely.

Can you administer medication?

Yes, with prior consent and completion of the required forms. All medication must be clearly labelled, in its original packaging and prescribed where required.

What happens if my child has an accident at nursery?

All accidents are recorded and parents are informed via Famly. Where necessary, first aid is administered immediately.

Are all staff DBS checked?

How long does the settling-in process take?

Every child is different, so our settling-in process istailored to each individual. We recommend a minimum of three settling sessions, but these can be extended if your child would benefit fromadditional support before starting.
